There’s a lot of changes happening within immigration, the workforce, and visa programs in Australia in 2021, however, there are also some big changes happening within The Migration Agency (TMA) itself that we’re excited to share with our clients.
TMA is becoming an incorporated legal practice in March 2021
Previously, TMA was under the regulation of the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA). As part of the Department of Home Affairs, OMARA’s responsibilities involve informing migration agents of their obligations, making sure that only qualified people become registered as immigration agents, and monitoring all agents for any type of professional misconduct.
Now, with recent legislative changes that remove legal practitioners from OMARA’s oversight, TMA will be overseen by the NSW Legal Services Commissioner. The Legal Services Commissioner is known for its exceptionally high standards and stringent requirements which our team of lawyers has always upheld in addition to the OMARA requirements.
What this regulation change means for our clients
TMA will continue to provide unparalleled service to clients, and we’ll retain the same excellent staff we’ve always had. The main benefit to clients with this change is that we’ll be held to an even higher standard of performance, professionalism, and client care than before, which means we’ll continue to exceed expectations at the same high rate. Our net promoter score from our client satisfaction survey is currently at 85, which shows our clients are extremely satisfied and active promoters after working with us.
Our fee structure will remain the same, with a value-for-money model, fixed fees for services, and a singular point of contact for each client. Clients may notice slight differences in disclosure documents, onboarding paperwork, and invoicing processes due to the new regulations that we’ll be following, but our core services will remain the same.
