The Migration Agency has a reputation for being a forward-thinking, family-orientated, team-centric place of employment, where people are at the heart of everything we do.
As part of our commitment to our people – our Australian and international team members and valued clients – we invest in the professional development of our team including intensive training programs for our new hires.
Recently, two of our international team members – Nicole Briz, from the Philippines, and Sade Solomon, from South Africa – travelled to Sydney, Australia, to participate in intensive training where they learned about Australian immigration and work visa practices and procedures to undertake their role, which is to facilitate talent mobility to Australia.
In this blog, meet Nicole and Sade and discover what makes their work rewarding and why they already enjoy working at The Migration Agency.
Australian immigration solutions: Meet our international team members
Sade Solomon, Immigration Coordinator, TMA South Africa
For Sade Solomon, The Migration Agency’s Immigration Coordinator on the ground in South Africa, travelling to Sydney to meet our Australian team members and complete her training was her first time travelling internationally.
“It was actually my first international trip, so it was a very exciting time for me,” Sade said. “And meeting the team in person at the TMA office in Australia far exceeded my expectations.”
Sade said the team was warm and welcoming, and made her feel at home in their home country. Inclusion is the TMA way.
“I was anxious about leaving my family for two weeks, but with the unwavering support of the Australian TMA team, they made my stay so much easier,” she said.
Nicole Briz, Immigration Coordinator, TMA Philippines
It was also Nicole’s first time travelling to Australia, and during her short stay, she fell in love with the country.
“I learned that Australia is a huge melting pot of cultures and as a foodie, I enjoyed eating a lot of delicious cuisines from all over the world. I also enjoyed just roaming around, visiting the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour and Harbour Bridge. However, my visit to The Rocks was my most favourite. I love the history and stories behind this place,” she recalled.
“Australia is a beautiful country to visit, and I would love to come back in the future to visit all the other places that I didn’t get to see!”
However, while her tastebuds got the royal treatment during her stay, Nicole particularly enjoyed meeting the team and the training program.
“I had an exciting and productive two-week on-boarding and training in Australia with the The Migration Agency team and each day has been great. All the training sessions were informative and will truly help me in preparing for my role,” she said.
“TMA upholds a great set of core values, which I truly admire and identify with, and the team is made up of excellent people coming from diverse backgrounds and I could not be more excited to join the team.”
Our team experiences “the TMA way” every day
Our TMA team members around the world practice our core values every day with each other and our clients.
“People really are at the heart of everything The Migration Agency does. I am so excited and proud to be a part of this team,” Sade said. “I enjoyed spending time with the team the most. Being in the office daily with them and seeing first hand how they help our clients,” she said.
While in Australia, Sade and Nicole discovered that The Migration Agency is not just about Australian immigration; it is about changing lives and having a positive impact.
“TMA provides a very fresh approach when assisting clients. Our clients feel a sincerity when being assisted by our knowledgeable and experienced team, and there is a very personal approach to each client case – always ensuring that our clients are happy,” she said.
Nicole said she enjoyed the collaborative culture of The Migration Agency.
“TMA is an amazing company that provides its clients with the best and personalised immigration experience, and it’s very different from the corporate culture I came from. I truly enjoy working with the entire team because they perfectly uphold the core values of TMA, including ‘we have each other’s back’,” she said.
“I have only been in TMA for a short time, but the team has been truly amazing in supporting me and making me feel like I belong to the organisation. I feel valued and important, and TMA feels like a family that I am glad to be part of.”
Showing our international team what Australia is all about
What’s life without balance? At TMA, it’s important that our team experiences real work-life balance. While work and training were at the top of the agenda, The Migration Agency’s Managing Director, Sarah Thapa, said it wasn’t all work and no play!
“Travelling to another country is exciting and we wanted to make sure our international team members got a feel for Australia and were able to experience some of our culture,” she said.
“People are at the heart of our business and we value our people, encourage their development and reward their performance. That includes making sure our team, wherever they are in the world, experiences the TMA way too.”
Sade said: “Sarah took us sightseeing, which was great fun! And I got to see the famous Opera House, which is something I’ve always dreamed of! And I was pleasantly surprised at just how friendly Australians are too!
“Coming from South Africa, which is a very diverse country, I was surprised to see how diverse Australia is, possibly more so than South Africa. The people are friendly and I always felt safe during my stay in Australia.”
Meanwhile, Nicole was impressed by the Aussie vibe.
“As soon as I arrived in Sydney, I immediately knew that I was in a different country – the chilly air was different from the hot and humid weather in the Philippines. I also liked the interactive but carefree vibe in Australia – lots of people strolling around, restaurants that are always packed, and people that love to engage in conversations,” she said.
Why The Migration Agency is a first-choice employer
Our whole team is passionate about immigration, global mobility and putting people at the heart of what we do. We partner with our clients to deliver world-class, outstanding solutions as their trusted advisor.
“There is always a willingness to help each other and TMA works together to continuously improve and ensure our client experience is successful and that they are happy. You can feel that TMA sincerely cares about people – the staff and its clients,” Sade said.
“I gained a lot of knowledge on Australian immigration in the two weeks in Australia, which I am so grateful for as it is going to assist me and set me up for success with TMA.”
As Immigration Coordinators, Nicole and Sade are points of contact for our TMA candidates, handling client inquiries and coordinating visa application files from initiation to completion, under supervision of our Immigration Business Partners.
“I am grateful to the entire TMA team for warmly welcoming me to Australia. Everyone was very kind, friendly, generous and supportive. It was lovely spending time with the TMA team,” Nicole said.
Her biggest takeaway was learning how to approach the immigration process “the TMA way”.
“I have been in the immigration field for almost seven years, and this was the first time that I have been truly impressed with an immigration company,” she said.
“TMA genuinely cares for both its clients and employees, and ensures its clients receive the most personalised and hassle-free immigration experience. At the same time, TMA ensures its employees always feel valued and make the immigration process fun.”
